Leeds Light Night...

Friday 4th October
Light night is an event where many art Galleries and other buildings welcome the public to view a variety of art exhibitions.
There was lots going on and I lot that I wanted to go and see.
I am particularly interested in installation, video and audience participation.
The projection on Leeds civic hall was impressive, it portrayed the mecagnism of a clock and the cogs moving inside, every 15 minutes the pillars came down and there was a projection of people stretching and doing different things. This was captivating for the audience and great to watch. at the back of the crowds there was a series of cogs that people were encouraged to interact with. I later found out that the speed these cogs were going, as people were playing with them, actually had an effect on the massive projection. The speed of the cogs right at the top changed depending on the speed they were turned. I found this great that the audience could be involved in this way.

Indifferent Matter: from Object to Sculpture exhibition in the Henry Moore Institute.

This piece seen on the front of the leaflet was a huge room that viewers could walk through, It was full of these pillow like balloons and a series of fans that blew then around the room. I like how the audience was included by being in the same room and interacting with the piece.

I think the Optical Harmonica was my favourite exhibition at this even:
Multi-scensory, 12 pendulums mimicking molecules are set free and swing shinning brightly as they come into the light stream of one central light, the pitched sounds played in synchrony. the pendulums soon change their rhythm and swinging distance causing them to become less regimented and the sound follows this pattern.

Another Exhibition that I really wanted to see was the Paper Birds Interactive Installation, On the One Hand.

Unfortunately there was no more showings for this exhibit and I want able to see it although the installation is going to be following the tour of the theatre production so hopefully I can see it at one of these places.
