Display...

One think I am looking into at the moment is placement of installations and how they are displayed. I feel this is a very important point within textile art and I have become increasingly critical about this.

at the Cloth and Memory exhibition I was looking at different ways the work had been displayed and why.

 Large Scale
 Chalk markings
 Clean and obvious
 Large scale, multiple components
In this piece the artist had put a chalk sign and a piece of string around the work on the floor, I noticed that this was not seen and the person in this picture immediately walked upto the piece and walked over the line. This form of audience placement did not work in this case!
Small and hidden, have to crouch down
 Plinths, walk between the pieces

Large scale and reflection
 Small and intricate

Other senses, sounds and touch
