Dan Zeller is an artist originally from California, he comes from a ceramic background and after completing a Master of Fine Arts at the University of Massachusetts, he then shifted his focus from ceramics to drawing. He draws very intricate designs, typically using different colours of pen on paper.
It is said that the interpretation of Zelers work is often different from viewer to viewer, I chose to investigate this artist because I saw the recurring theme of maps and map drawing within his complicated designs.

I feel that Zellas work is not just drawing, because of the incredible detail, repetition, skill, commitment and pride that can be seen in his designs his approach is a craft as well as drawing skill. More examples of his intricate drawings:
